EARNS & BARNS LLC is committed to ensuring that earnsandbarns.com is usable by as many people as possible, including people who rely on assistive technology.
1. Summary of conformance
This site is designed and tested against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. We consider conformance to be substantial — most content meets the criteria, with the known limitations listed below.
2. Standard we follow
We target WCAG 2.1 Level AA, which is the standard referenced by the US Section 508, the EU Web Accessibility Directive (EN 301 549), and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Title III settlements in recent precedent. Where WCAG 2.2 introduces new AA criteria we will adopt them in the next scheduled audit.
3. What we've done
- Semantic HTML. Headings follow a logical outline; landmarks (
header, nav, main, footer) are present on every page. - Skip link. A “Skip to content” link appears as the first focusable element on every page.
- Keyboard navigation. Every interactive element can be reached and operated with a keyboard. Focus order matches visual order.
- Visible focus. All interactive elements show a high-contrast focus ring (orange outline on cream paper).
- Color contrast. Body text meets at least 4.5:1; large headings and UI components meet at least 3:1, verified with WebAIM's contrast checker.
- Reduced motion. Hero animations, count-ups, and reveals respect
prefers-reduced-motion: reduce. - Alt text. Every meaningful image has descriptive alternative text. Decorative SVGs are marked
aria-hidden. - Form labels. Every input has a visible
label; required fields are programmatically marked; submit buttons announce their busy state. - Live regions. The cookie banner uses
role="dialog"andaria-live="polite"; submission confirmation messages are announced. - Language. The root
htmlelement declareslang="en".
4. Known limitations
We are honest about the places we have not yet fully met AA. As of the date above:
- Decorative photography. Stock photography credits do not yet appear next to each image. They are listed on the source manifest and in the footer. We plan to surface them inline.
- SVG charts on the Services page. The animated SEO traffic chart includes a numeric label and a description but is not yet rendered as a fully accessible
tablealternative. We provide the underlying numbers in plain text. - Hover-only tooltips. A handful of editorial “tag” chips appear on hero image cards. They are decorative and the underlying content does not depend on them.
If you encounter an additional barrier, tell us — we treat accessibility bugs the same way we treat security bugs: as priority work.
5. Assistive technology tested
- NVDA 2024.x on Windows 11 + Firefox / Chrome
- VoiceOver on macOS 14 + Safari 17
- VoiceOver on iOS 17 + Safari
- TalkBack on Android 14 + Chrome
- Keyboard-only navigation on all of the above
- 250% browser zoom and 200% text-only zoom

8. Contact & ongoing work
We schedule a full accessibility audit at least annually and after any major redesign. The version date at the top reflects the most recent revision of this statement.
